Installing Butler
Follow these steps to install Butler on your hard drive:
- Download and expand the "butler.dmg.gz" archive. The newest version of Butler is always available via VersionTracker.com, MacUpdate.com, or on manytricks.com. If the archive cannot be expanded then try downloading it once more — using a different browser or download tool.
- Mount the expanded "Butler.dmg" disk image by double-clicking it.
- Copy Butler to your hard drive by dragging the "Butler" application file from the disk image to any folder on your hard drive. The system's "Applications" folder or a more user-specific applications folder inside your home directory are likely targets.
Uninstalling Butler
Butler does not alter or patch your operating system. Thus, uninstalling Butler is as easy as trashing the "Butler" application file. You might also want to delete Butler's configuration files:
- the application support folder at "/Users/your home directory/Library/Application Support/Butler"
- the preferences file at "/Users/your home directory/Library/Preferences/de.petermaurer.Butler.plist"
